Use Pens to Answer 8 Marketing Questions

I just created a short article on how to create "Inspiration Sessions" to ask and learn how one can market their business better to see greater results during these next 12 months. Even though it has to do with marketing in general, I will soon offer my ideas to answer each of these 8 questions wth imprinted promotional items. Because imprinted pens are such a big part of the imprinted promotional product mix (with Calendars, Mugs and Apparel) I will also answer these 8 questions using imprinted pens exclusively.

For now I invite your to read the 8 questions and come up with your own ideas for using imprinted pens as answers. Then leave your comments here for our readers. Here are the 8 questions: http://newtonmfg.blogspot.com/2013/12/ask-these-8-questions-before-ordering.html.

We’ll make your name famous! Purchase a pen from www.myimprintrep.com/123order  and then write a few paragraphs as to how you’ve used pens in the past (or how you’ll use this pen order) to promote your message. Submit a couple of pictures of the pen showing the ad copy and at different angles, (or you can send us a pen and our staff will take the pictures). How to Have Someone Else pay for Your Imprinted Pens with Coop Dollars and this Great Idea

Many businesses are missing out on “free advertising money” because they are not aware of this or they don’t ask. And I’ll share one of my secret marketing tips in a moment. Coop money is made available to you each year and if not used, it’s lost. This is in the form of “coop” dollars from the companies of the brands that you sell. If your company sells a name brand furnace for instance, this furnace company may pay a large share of your advertising costs of an ad, whether it is in the newspaper or on a pen; when you include their brand’s logo. So be sure to ask the rep of the brands you carry if they offer this and then be sure to use it! Now here’s similar idea in which you can co-op with one or two non-competing businesses to share in the cost of “penvertising” (I coined this word) or even pay your costs totally.

Here’s what you do. Let’s say you have a photography business. OK, now who is a non-competing business but is in your “business sphere”? Who do you see at the same business functions such as tradeshows that are promoted to a similar audience such as a Wedding Type of tradeshow? You’ll see wedding stationery suppliers, bakeries who create and supply wedding cakes, wedding dress places, and even DJs. There are many more. Become friends with them and approach them with this idea. Ask them, “How would you like to promote your business for one third the cost”? Who wouldn’t? Explain that all three businesses could distribute a single pen that is three sided and each business pays for one third of the cost of the pen order! Then each business distributes each pen at their place of business or a specific tradeshow event. If someone doesn’t make it to a particular tradeshow booth, your advertising is still out there!

You can do this with two sided and four sided pens also. Contact us at www.myimprintrep.com/123order for examples of pens with low, low pricing and fast, fast service! Yep, yep!

Make your imprinted pen “promotional” and “irresistible”!

Do you have a “ho hum” or “bah hum bug” type of imprint on your pen?

Are you putting too much ad copy, or the "wrong" ad copy on your pen?

Many of my customers use pens as informational vehicles only. There are certainly times and uses for that type of imprint. But with a little more thought your pen could “say less” and be appreciated more. With so many ways for customers to find us, we no longer have to transfer everything from our business cards to our pen. Take a risk, have faith, and trust that by using less copy and only the copy that truly identifies the pen as coming from you and your business, you can have greater impact.

TIP: By strategically using "just the right" ad copy for your imprint such as only using your business name, or business name with only an additional phone number or web address, this directs the prospect/customer exactly where you want to lead them; and the perception to the recipient  is that you are already “well known”, “nationally known”, “big”, "established", etc.

For instance, what if you only had your business name on the pen and that’s all? Scary, right? You’re thinking that “Oh my gosh, the person who finds this pen or who I give it to will never find my business.

Not so! Try something. Enter “My Imprint Rep” into your address bar at the top of your web page (without the www. before it). You’ll see that our website is shown about 3 times in different ways. Now try it with just your business name. (If your business doesn’t show up in the listings, you need my marketing consulting, which is for another article). But I’m sure that it did show up. Now don’t you think that when you have a nice pen with only your business name on it that people will find you? Believe it; it’s true, they will! If you are not yet ready to believe that “less is more” keep your business name on the pen but use only one other element such as your phone number, your web address, or similar. Want to direct your prospect to your website or a specific page on your website? Be strong here; don't waver. Ready? Don’t use your business name at all (or if you’ve been a “smart” marketer your business name is your website name) just use the website  or  webpage address: www.myimprintrep.com, www.myimprintrep.com/123order, MyImprintRepDOTcom, MyImprintRep, www.MyImprintRep, etc.

Using less ad copy, but strategically can set you apart from competitors who don't use these tips.

BONUS: Here’s a “quicky tip”: Try something similar to this short phrase for your business message on a pen: PENS Call me: 888-241-4031

Make it a great day!
